They’re arguably the most famous name in modern furniture – a one stop shop for authentic modern design produced according to the highest standards. They carry authorized reproductions of everything from mid-century classics by
Charles and Ray Eames, George Nelson and Isamu Noguchi to the work of of-the-moment superstars like Yves Behar and Carol Catalano. Now, legendary temple of modernism Herman Miller is bringing a new dimension to their already coveted offerings, making many of their classic designs available in eco-friendly form.
Since May 15, design classics like the Eames Aluminum Group Lounge Chair are now available in earth friendly fabric. It’s part of Herman Miller Environment, a collaboration between Herman Miller and New York‘s famous ABC Home store. The fabric used will all be designed by Modernist design fave Maharam, and all will be Greenguard-certified. Other pieces in the collection include green versions of the now ubiquitous Aeron office chairs – along with the similar Mirra and Cella designs, the overstuffed, amazingly comfortable Eames Executive Chairs and the still-fresh Eames Compact Sofa. The collection will be featured on the second floor of their space in Manhattan‘s Flatiron Building – itself a design classic – where presentations on the work of Charles and Ray Eames will be projected on the walls.
